In Norse Mythology, Þjazi (Thjazi) was a Jotunn of Thrymheim, capable of transforming into a monstrous black eagle, who with Loki's collaboration was the kidnapper of Iðunn, wardress of the Golden Apples of Youth. Without her, the rest of the gods grew old and weak, and so Loki was forced to undo the trouble he had wrought, and stole her back. Þjazi, enraged, gave chase, but was lured into a flaming trap set by the gods, and he was slain.
