The Roman god, is the deity of beginnings, endings, transitions, and duality. He is depicted with two faces, symbolizing his ability to look into both the past and the future. Janus governs doorways, gates, and passages, embodying change and the passage of time. His dual nature represents balance—light and dark, creation and destruction, beginnings and conclusions. In Roman mythology, he is associated with new endeavors, the turning of the year, and the start of any significant event. Temples dedicated to Janus often had doors that remained open during times of war and closed during peace.
