The boy looked around the large building with big eyes. The Glassmaker walked out from behind the counter with a smile on his face. The boy gripped his mother’s hand uncertainly. “Don’t worry.” She assured him. “This is where I was given Kiala at your age.” The boys eyes fluttered to the gecko on his mother’s shoulder. “But… she’s not glass….” The mother smiled. “She was glass for quite some time until I opened enough for her to come to life and be my companion.” The glassmaker handed the boy a glass fox. “This one is excited to get to know you” The boy held the glass gingerly and reverently. “I’m excited to meet her too.”
