A reference to the David Bowie lyrics quoted above. In the Ivory Oasis there are Seven Villages around the crescent-shaped lake surrounding the city of Irem. The westernmost village is named Ormen, and its residents specialize in and study all manners of magic and mysticism. This village is the capital for these studies in the Fourteen Deserts, and within it is the largest and second-most prestigious school of magic, Candlelight College. At the center of the village is a small shrine with a very large black candle that has been lit since its founding. This candle was gifted to the village by the King-Under-the-Black-Star, and was lit using the Hellfire Lantern that guided Him and his followers in their escape from the Pit in the most ancient of times. It is said that when it burns out that a vast army of "serpent-men" will invade the Fourteen Deserts from the west.
