From the back of the church, the set of three small bells rang three times; The congregation stood. The organ swelled and began to play a welcoming melody.
The procession began to make its way to the sanctuary. First came a young boy swinging a smoking thurible accompanied by the incense bearer, who carried the incense in a small gold box. Next, came the cross bearer carrying the processional cross. Flanking the cross bearer on his right and left were two candle bearers. Then came two more boys, then two young men, then two men. All wore red cassocks and white surplices. Finally, Father Anslem processed him.
He wore a white alb, a white cincture tied around his waist, a green stole crossed over his torso in the shape of an “X” and a green and gold embroidered cope, and a black biretta on his head. His hands were folded as he slowly made his way down the center aisle.

This so reminds me of the Catholic funeral I attended on Tuesday
The procession arrived at the sanctuary and bowed the to the altar. The boys took their places in the pews on the sanctuary while Father Anselm and the two men knelt on the bottom step of the altar. A small gold-plated bucket filled with holy water and an aspergillum stood nearby. Father Anselm took the bucket and aspergillum and sprinkled the altar three times. He stood up and began to sprinkle the servers at the congregation with holy water.
The schola chanted: “Thou shalt purge me with hyssop, oh Lord, and I shall be clean, thou shalt wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” They began to chant Psalm 51 as Father Anselm began to sprinkle the congregation. He tended to be conservative with the holy water. After he sprinkled the congregation (for it was a small church), Father Anselm returned to the sanctuary and prayed a prayer.
