She left in the dead of night, draped in a sable cloak to hide her in the darkness, and fled to the nearby mountain, climbing for a day and night without rest.
She was inwardly terrified that her mother's augurs may be tracking her and an imperial detachment was upon her heels to return her to the palace. Could they know the betrayal she planned, that she had already made in her heart?
Reaching the summit, the deep night was silent, clouds obscured the stars. She first saw eerie green lights in the firmament, heard the whump of giant wings, her breath caught in her throat. "I mustn't show fear." She thought, standing tall.
Kamachrichthyon descended silently, landing with surprising grace. It turned it's baleful eyes upon her and she held her breath.
He lowered his neck in a deep bow, she then saw the majestic riding harness, just behind the head.
She strode regally and climbed up, strapping herself in. "Take me to him!" She commanded. The monster crouched and leapt into the sky.
