these autosteriogram "magic eye" images were a big thing in the 1990s (for those of you who were even alive back then) - they still exist today although nobody makes a big deal out of them. Apart from a small number of people whose eyes don't possess binocular vision or whose brains process images differently, everyone can see these however back in the day a lot of people got stressed about not being able to see the images or had how to look at the pages explained to them badly - hence developing strong feelings about them.
