All kidding aside, while I do not fully understand -- I do know that both Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms are extremely important, cultural icons. [And (perhaps in some significant ways) for almost opposite reasons.]
Whilst Mount Fuji undergoes great, seasonal changes -- it also has generational permanence, plus stability as a whole. But it is a fixed location.
Cherry blossoms are extremely seasonal, of great beauty, but they lack any guarantee of permanence. However, they can be anywhere one has the patience to plant a seed or a sapling that'll bloom years later.
Moreover, they bloom at different times in different places in Japan -- rather like a living wave of beauty that sweeps the nation.
Hence, between the twain, I can imagine both multiple dualities and multiple commonalities.
