Through the marshes

They stayed under the blanket for most of the morning, all awkwardness gone. There was no doubt in Pipper’s mind—he loved Julia, and he was certain she loved him too. One look into her eyes told him everything. That morning was theirs to enjoy. They reveled in their closeness, Pipper marvelled at Julia’s softness and Julia loved the feel of Pipper’s strong body. The morning passed quickly.

Late in the morning, they packed their things and resumed their journey. Pipper’s clothes were nearly dry. They traveled north for a while before heading west. Along the way, they found some berries and beech nuts to eat. By late afternoon, they reached a vast marshland, having to wade through a lot of water. Pipper looked at it with disgust, while Julia just chuckled.
