In the 1970s, thinness was heavily marketed as the ideal, driven by fashion trends favoring slim silhouettes and cocaine fed models. The rise of diet products, fad diets, and fitness crazes like aerobics reinforced the idea that being skinny was key to beauty, success, and happiness. Magazines and media glamorized thinness while stigmatizing weight gain.
This relentless marketing created a societal pressure to conform, leading many women to adopt unhealthy behaviors in pursuit of the idealized “skinny” body—a legacy that continues to impact beauty standards today.
This retro advertisement features a stunning black cat yearning for an unattainable sense of belonging. The image captures the cat's wistful gaze, evoking a sense of nostalgia and longing in a vintage aesthetic.

I will agree that many beauty standards are ridiculous, unhealthy, or both. In my opinion, going on any serious "diet" that is not long-term sustainable ought to be done only under strict medical supervision. And with strict time limits.
If the goal is to get healthier, then that is a day-by-day goal as well as a long-term goal. Moreover, a large part of being beautiful is one's attitude and demeanor.

Great image, and beautiful message. Definitely beauty standards (especially for women) are unrealistic.
