Sword of Effulgent Reminiscence

This sword holds the memories of the battles it has been used in by every warrior ever to wield it; any warrior who acquires it will instantly be given lifetimes of battle experience. The effect will not activate until the new owner uses the sword in battle. Losing the sword will cause the memories it grants to fade. Its inscriptions are written in a forgotten magical language, reading "In memory still bright".

But the memories of war weigh heavily. Some are driven mad by the sword's power. Others give the sword up of their own free will because the memories are too much for them to bear. Still others, those who are given to wanton slaughter, take pride in killing as many as they can to etch their dark legacy into the sword's memory. But no matter what kind of wielder holds it, the sword never seems to stay put for long. It's always looking for new users, and events around it coalesce to facilitate this.
