By now I was walking backwards. I was as if mesmerized by the beauty of the last Houses of the Intransigent Village that were about to be swallowed up by the evening mist of the forest. The lights were coming on, and I could do nothing but keep taking pictures.
A beautiful House with round windows and lighted lamps behind whose pine resin glass door I could catch a fleeting glimpse of movement -- and behind it, now almost completely submerged in the haze, another House glimmering in the distance.
