wow! This is so awesome :D

I can't find the words to speak so I just nod to him, and he takes it as a welcome excuse to go back into the shop, leaving me alone with the dog that's thrown a wrench into my whole day.

"Well, ummmm, I better get back in there, we're closing up soon. But its nice to meet ya Jesse, wish there were more kind souls like you out in the world. My name's Bud by the way. I'll seeya round, hopefully" He says awkwardly. Im glad that he doesn't acknowledge the tears running down my face.

I'm still sitting on the ground with my new unexpected companion, crying yet again. And the butcher is shuffling his feet again.

At this kind strangers comment, I unfortunately start tearing up again. Dang, I really need to get a grip on my emotions! Both dog and butcher look at me concerned again, but I think the dog is more concerned by what's in the bag and why he isn't getting any of it at this moment.

"Consider it a donation for getting this dirty dog to stop begging from me all the time. He probably gets this much meat from me anyways through all his persistent beggin. It aint no thing"

I tentatively lift the bag he's handed me. It feel like 20 pounds, probably more. I start telling him "This is a lot... I don't really have the money for it right now but once I start getting my paycheck I could reimburse you-" He cuts me off with a kind but firm glare while he scratches the dogs ears. The dog is also looking at me as if to say "Take this offering!! Free meat!!"

"I thought since he took that meat he musta been real hungry, I guess he needs more than you bargained for. I have some scraps I wasn't plannin on sellin, you can have um if youd like. Most days before closin I have a good amount I just throw away, so if you ever need some help with this hell hound I'd be happy to share what I got. He's a rascal but I promise ya he's a mighty fine dog when it comes down to it."

Im too sensitive to speak right away, and he fills the awkward silence by passing me the bag in his hands. I take it shyly and its surprisingly heavy. The mangy dog and I both look up at him.
