Please read before getting all offended: This series inspired by Orthodox icons is one I imagine being created by a group of underground “heretics” on a far-flung world recently taken over by the Imperium, that still had an extremely ancient religion long thought extinguished by humanity. Disguised in the symbols of the Imperium and Adeptus Mechanicus are other meanings that hide in plain sight, known only to those who secretly hold on to the knowledge of the old ways…
In this one, it seems the symbol of the Inquisition is being used as a symbol of holding true to faith--but not the faith of the Imperial Cult...
(To see something similar that happened IRL, look at the Kakure Kirishitan of Japan, as well as the conversos of Spain.)
A striking picture of an Eastern Orthodox icon featuring a cybernetically enhanced Tech-Priest. The ornate digital artwork depicts the Adeptus Mechanicus in a serene and intricate style.
