I think this artwork should be called “The Luminiferous Ascension of the Nocturne Warden”. What we see here is a fae mid-flight above the glimmering flower-thickets near Lake Bled, Slovenia—cradling what locals call a svetloba seme, or “light seed,” said to bloom only during a rare moon phase when the lunar rabbit appears to blink.
In rural Estonia, particularly around Lake Peipus, villagers once believed fireflies were fairy scouts sent to negotiate moonlight tariffs. “Only fools and moths haggle with the moon,” chided the elderfolk of Varnja.
