Scene 19 – “The Parking Lot Fight”

Story Moment: It's a chaotic Friday night outside a worn-down 1980s bowling alley, neon lights flickering above the parking lot filled with beat-up cars and scattered beer cans. The 16-year-old boy, blood running from his broken nose, grips a metal pipe in his hands—his knuckles white, shirt torn at the shoulder. He's surrounded by a group of older teens, maybe 18 or 19, all yelling, circling, throwing punches. His face is swollen, but he’s still standing tall, fueled by rage and pride. A few boys lie groaning on the pavement. Blue and red lights from approaching police cars flash in the background, sirens cutting through the night. As officers flood in to break it up, some boys scatter, others are thrown to the ground and cuffed. The boy doesn’t run. He just stands there, bloodied pipe in hand, chest heaving, staring into the night like he has nothing left to lose. This moment will follow him. It changes things.

I really love this look! I might even adapt the prompt. I have not yet quite gotten that classic comic book look right. The one thing that stands out a bit is that he has Christian Bale abs 😉 

Thank you! Often times if I am wanting a look, like from a specific era, I just looked up (for example) "who was the illustrator for DC comics Batman in 1991" then I used that fellow's name as the artist. It works good about half the time 😄

That's my experience too and I do the same. I have gotten some fairly good results with Frank Miller, Syd Mead, Moebius, and Frank Frazetta, but the old, gritty look, I have not managed to replicate that yet.
