___Ingredients:___

+ 450g self-raising flour
+ 2 level tsp baking powder
+ 50g caster sugar
+ 100g butter (cold, cut into pieces)
+ 2 free-range eggs
+ Approximately 150ml milk
+ **Optional:** a handful of sultanas or raisins

___instruction:___

+ Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
+ Mix the wet ingredients in a large bowl.
+ Rub the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
+ Whisk eggs with most of the milk, reserving a little for later.
+ Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry mixture to form a soft, slightly sticky dough. Add the sultanas if using.
+ Turn the dough onto a floured surface, gently pat to about 2–2.5cm thick, and cut out using a cutter.
+ Place the dough on the tray, brush the tops with milk, and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
+ Serve warm with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
