There's an old tree in a clearing on the edge of town. Nothing grows near it, no animals will come near it. Even buzzards far above in the sky have been seen to fly around it, rather than over. It always seems to have a few black, diseased, crusted leaves on its gnarled branches, which never seem to fall. Legend says if you go near it, you'll be visited by the Hanging Man. A figure cloaked in black shadows, an eyeless black cowl over his head, 3 nooses tied tightly about his unnaturally stretched and bent neck. Only a few have seen him and lived to tell the tale, and they live at Amneyhurst Asylum, in padded rooms and straight-jackets. So beware if you pass the hanging tree. Be listening for the choked and gasping moans of the Hanging Man. And pray you live to see the sunrise.
