Silent City: X Homecoming

After parting ways with the fading Apathy, the heretic sought high ground to determine the source of the smoke. The scent of it on the air was wrong somehow, stirring a dread akin to desperation.

Nowhere was the sun to be seen so they struck out on the game trail leading away from Apathy's retreat, searching the skies for an indication of the sun's location. Swirling flakes of dark ash clung like snow and stung the eye.

But the smoke seemed unending, and deepening even as the mountains became hills and the hills flattened to plains. Having made an arrow's path towards where the inland Sea should be was rewarded with orientation.

Turning to parallel the shore, four more days past before they saw the markers. Then finally Sea Gate, everywhere choked with ash-covered bodies among smoldering ruins of the City.

Not knowing what else to do, sobbing, the heretic skirted seemingly endless vacant remains towards where Empathy's Temple might have still stood.
