I guess I find the hare interesting because it's *supposed* to be some demon or evil spirit that perverts the natural order of things by hunting humans for sport. But when I was younger I didn't really get all that and just thought it was a neat concept. Plus, there's that whole romanticization of bad boys and dangerous creatures (see vampires, werewolves 😄).

I find the concept of Hunter Hare (from the Hell panel of Hieronymus Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights triptych) interesting. Hunter Hare represents an inversion of some "natural" order. In the triptych, instead of a human hunting the hare, the hare has caught a human and carries her? him? upside down from a spear or hunting pole by one paw hand. The hare blows on a hunter's horn by the other.

I really don't have much of a backstory for the hare in my creations. I just fancy the idea of Hunter Hare interacting with the human world. 😅
