I think this has been the ONLY jester image I've seen yet that I liked! Don't just like it, I love it! 😻

"The Mad Jester" - I really like this one also. They're usually portrayed as affable, amusing performers, and I always felt they're slightly insane as they have to entertain those who are much crazier than they are 😂 ❤️ 😻

Often jesters were glad of their work, to a certain extent, because most of the time, they were those with some physical handicap or deformity. It meant a warm safe place with plentiful food. Otherwise, they'd end up as beggars. Some were very shrewd though and became trusted by the reigning power.

But politics then was even worse than today - constant wars between small duchies, power struggles, intrigues, poisoning and assignations. I wouldn't want to get *too close* to the head of state as who knew how long they'd be around and their fate could easily become the jester's too.

I love history and was reading today more about Phillip II of France. He did nothing but push and shove throughout his reign. Women were used as pawns which was pretty common then. What a life for most back then! 🫤🥺😡
