Flux Schnell
This is part of a long-running experiment comparing 20 different AI models working from the same prompt. Now we have a lot more than 20 models to choose from. I'm slowly trying to dig through all of them.
This one is Flux Schnelle at its Long setting for runtime. It's in that weird area that's encroaching upon regular Flux price but isn't. But, on the plus side, most of the weird backgrounds and other strange aspects of Flux Schnell are toned down. The figure looks more authentic by time period and skin. But one of the test images still had fake copyright notice signature, which you do not expect in this day and age. I forgot to mention all the Schnells occasionally do this. Boo. It's astounding to me that a negative prompt isn't available to fix this.
Even on a free plan. when FS Short is not free, it's not worth fooling around with it. Spend the extra half credit to get Long.

A striking picture of a 1920s-style portrait of a young French woman. She is dressed in an elegant outfit, with an expression that conveys both innocence and allure, set in a cozy cafe. This artwork evokes classical painting techniques.

the flux schnell model, and many of the new accelerated models (non-SDXL), operate at CFG (guidance) of 1.0, which means they do not accept a negative prompt input (that's my understanding at least). it's a real shame, because i expect they'd all benefit from at least a little extra "guidance" from a negative prompt (or additional prompts or prompt weights).
i've no insight into how flux schnell actually runs, like if there are a certain number of sampling steps associated with each runtime preset, but i imagine there's only so much benefit extra samples will add if the first step is already in the "wrong" direction. this, i think, is where samplers come into play, and their distinct absence on many models seems even more peculiar because they can dramatically change the output in subtle or fundamental ways.
A picture that doesn’t just capture a moment but an entire feeling – simply breathtaking! 💓📷
