At a time when everything was set in stone - history, power, laws - a single artist wanted to create the opposite: a monument that never stands still. And so the obelisk of water was born - a monument that defies all solid form, that never appears the same twice and yet is always there.
It was erected in the middle of the large square, exactly where a tyrannical ruler had once had his stone obelisk erected. But instead of proclaiming immutability in granite, the new obelisk let the water itself speak: it rose, formed, dissolved - and began again.
People marveled, laughed, held their hands in the water, which left no trace. Some said the obelisk reminded them that nothing is forever - neither power nor suffering. Others saw it as proof that true greatness lies not in hardness, but in the ability to constantly reshape oneself.
