Quetzàl for the Aztecs, Kukulkàn for the Maya, Gukumatz for the Quiché -- the quetzal bird is another, much smaller, original of Guatemala, but many modern interpretations prefer to represent it as an eagle with garish-colored feathers. It's of sure effect, but it's totally arbitrary.
