Aardwolf looking for termites

So happy to see you make this aardwolf! 💖 Probably most people have never heard of them. They're part of the hyena family (I know you'd know that) and so are sometimes called the termite-eating hyena. It's neat that they can lap up to 250-300,000 termites in one night, as well as larvae! Yum! 😋 Their tongues aren't long and thin like ant-eaters but wide and sticky. The lick up termites from the ground and their tongues are tough to withstand soldier termite bites.

I was reading about their breeding and raising cubs and read that copulation last from 1-4.5 hours! 😳 What interested me though was how good the fathers are. Aardwolves can't carry food back to their den or regurgitate it so while the mother forages for roughly 6 hours (since she needs to produce milk), the father stays with the cubs and guards them. It only leaves him 2-3 hours to feed himself.
