Graciela Rodo Boulanger

Graciela Rodo Boulanger (1935 – ) is a celebrated artist from Bolivia. She is renowned for her stylised depictions of children, often reminiscent of the work of Fernando Botero ("Boterismo"). Her paintings are characterised by their multiple, round-faced figures engaged in everyday activities, often rendered against a muddy background with a primary colour scheme. Boulanger’s art style is noted for its simplistic, graceful lines and lyrical colours, making her compositions as rhythmic, rigorous and spontaneous as the round-faced children she paints. She studied etching and printmaking along with René Carcan under Johnny Friedlaender in Paris, and her work spans various mediums including lithographs, oils and etchings.
