Childhood abuse deeply impacts a person’s ability to trust, making healthy, loving, and stable relationships in adulthood challenging. When safety and love were once tied to fear, pain and trauma, the mind learns to expect the same from others. Emotional walls go up—self-protection becomes instinct. Intimacy may feel unsafe, *vulnerability unbearable*. Even in caring relationships, the fear of abandonment or harm can trigger deep-seated responses. Healing takes time, patience, and often support, but with effort and the right people, trust can be rebuilt, and love can become something safe, not something to fear.

This is a mome rath. They are very large green boars that can weigh over a tonne. Their meat is mildy toxic and unpalatable. They are dangerous, and cause significant harm to crops and livestock, and so a bounty has been put on them. They are known for their strange call, which sounds like bellowing and whistling, with a kind of sneeze in the middle. They are widespread on the worlds of Gwyndo, Eiriel, and Rhye, and in lesser numbers on Avalon.

The idea for this little unicorn series was brought on by something as simple and small as being triggered by being reminded of type of bubble gum I used to get as a child. I can't exactly remember how or why but I think it must be tied up into something my abuser must have given me. I was often "bribed" to keep quiet, and I suspect this is why a simple picture of the gum in the daily challenge yesterday created such a negative cascade of memories and feelings in my body.

I have mixed emotions around unicorns themselves but for whatever reason this idea just really resonated with me and gave me a sense of comfort and control of the emotions that normally in the past would have completely overwhelmed me. I am lucky to have gotten out of the situation when I did as a child and even more lucky now to have had the chance to receive really in depth treatment, that has gotten me to the point I can at least sometimes work my way through the thoughts, emotions and experiences as they arise.
