—was keeping him restrained with a gentle yet firm hand upon his shoulder. Their faces were etched with emotions they were trying to hide, not unlike her own.

“We can shut down—”

Mika would not hear it. She wanted—no, needed them to leave so they would not see the tears she was holding back finally break free which would inevitably lead to an endless crying session between the three of them. So, instead, she pushed them away, watching them disappear into the market.

With a heavy sigh, she turned her mind from the sadness that would come tomorrow and looked instead toward the present. She had done this so many times now that she did not need to think about it anymore. Her body moved on its own, reaching for an apron embroidered with her name which hung from a hook on the wall.
